DÉMARCHE ARTISTIQUE
C’est à travers l’agencement magique des choses que le travail de Cécile Tissot nous attire dans des chemins qui pourraient mener au divin, avec en musique de fond des questions existentielles. Le sens de notre expérience terrestre est-il cet état de reliance avec plus
grand que nous ? Comment la matière peut-elle faire parler l’intangible présence du sacré?
Dans la construction de ses œuvres aux accents intemporels, un dialogue direct et sensible se fait entre l’artiste et les matériaux bruts, qu’elle confronte aussi entre eux. Terre, bois, pierre, pigments, cire, plâtre, éléments naturels glânés se mélangent, se repoussent, se raclent, se taillent pour se figer dans un souffle d’équilibre et de silence. Cette recherche foisonnante, nourrie de l’appel de nouvelles découvertes, prend des formes et des formats multiples et débouche sur des créations déclinées dans divers média : sculptures et installations, parfois participatives, objets d’art, ainsi que dessins et peintures.
Qu’elle ait été attirée par la capacité de Marian Zidaru, sculpteur roumain contemporain, de parler de ferveur à travers installations en bois et représentations habitées, ou par la redécouverte en 1900 de sculptures religieuses romanes du Val de Boi en Catalogne, Cécile est inspirée par la place de l’art dans l’émoi de l’âme.
Il se dégage de la confrontation de l’artiste avec les matériaux, qui prend place dans un temps souvent long, un chuchotement de langage sacré, qui invite le monde des formes à enchanter le quotidien.
L’expérience est double devant l’œuvre. Le public est tour à tour interpellé par la proximité sensuelle des matériaux invitant au toucher, et mis à distance par le caractère vénérable, vertical, qui se dégage de ces arrangements symboliques.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Cécile Tissot's work draws us into paths that could lead to the divine, with existential questions playing in the background. Is the meaning of our earthly experience a state of connection with something greater than ourselves? How can matter speak to us of the intangible presence of the sacred?
In the construction of her timeless works, a direct and sensitive dialogue is established between the artist and the raw materials, which she also confronts with each other. Earth, wood, stone, pigments, wax, plaster and natural elements gleaned from the wild blend, repel, scrape and carve each other to freeze in a breath of balance and silence.
This abundant research, nourished by the call of new discoveries, takes on multiple forms and formats and leads to creations in a variety of media: sculptures and installations, sometimes participative, art objects, as well as drawings and paintings.
Whether attracted by contemporary Romanian sculptor Marian Zidaru's ability to speak of fervor through wooden installations and inhabited representations, or by the rediscovery in 1900 of Romanesque religious sculptures from the Val de Boi in Catalonia, Cécile is inspired by art's place in the soul's emotion.
Out of the artist's confrontation with organic resources, which often takes place over a long period of time, emerges a whisper of sacred language, inviting the world of forms to enchant everyday life.
The experience is twofold. The public is in turn drawn in by the sensual proximity of the materials, inviting them to be touched, and put at a distance by the venerable, vertical character that emanates from these symbolic arrangements.
